You only need to visit the cafe once and try Lorraine’s own recipe bubble & squeak and you’ll be hooked! Always delicious, always looks after the customers and has been chalking up local and national awards! The prices are reasonable too.

Judges comments – July/August 2017

Very welcoming. Lorraine, the owner was there – herself coeliac and used to be dairy/lactose intolerant. She certainly knew her stuff…

Very good choice of quite simple café style food – lots of vegan dishes and everything gluten free apart from the scones and some breads to go with the soups which are stored and prepared in a separate kitchen. Menu very well marked up with all the allergens/vegan etc.

I am a vegan coeliac with a celery allergy so I could not have many of the delicious looking vegan dishes which were made with packet stocks but they made me a very tasty bubble and squeak with spinach and made me an extra salad. I also got given vegan spread for my egg free/gluten free bread.

Food quality was excellent. My lunch companions both had home made soups which they raved about – they also raved about the cheese scones (not gf). We had two cakes and a biscuit for dessert. The cakes were seriously to die for – chocolate coconut and a gingery carrot cake – both very moist, light and extremely tasty which considering that there were not just gluten free but dairy and egg free too was quite a baking feat!

Extremely good value. £30 for three of us which included three main courses (two soup admittedly) and three cakes and coffees.
